Activision have announced Call of Duty League, a new city-based franchised league which will launch in 2020 and feature a $6,000,000 prize pool.
The league will include twelve teams, which will represent eleven American and European markets such as Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Florida, London, Los Angeles (x2), Minnesota, New York, Paris, Seattle, Toronto. The competition will be played exclusively on PlayStation 4 in 5-versus-5 multiplayer Call of Duty: Modern Warfare matches. The matches will be played in different cities, meaning that there will be home and away matches.
Earlier it was revealed that Call of Duty League players will receive a minimum base salary of $50,000 a year, while the organization will have to distribute at least 50% of their prize pool earnings to players directly. Activision also promises to preserve the Path to Pro competitive scene, which will include multiple amateur events with dedicated prize pools.
