ALEX Becomes the First Member of Cloud9 New CS:GO Roster

Previous Team Vitality in-game leader Alex "ALEX" McMeekin has become the first player of the new Counter-Strike: Global Offensive roster of the North American organization Cloud9. The player signed a 3-years contract, the deal costed $1,650,000.

ALEX is a 24-years-old British player, who played for Team LDLC between 2016 and 2018 and for Team Vitality from 2018 to 2020. With the latter he won several prominent events, including EPICENTER 2019, ECS 7 Finals and cs_summit 4. This March the player went inactive due to heavy schedule and fatigue.

The player will assume the captain’s position in the new roster. In an interview, the Brit explained that it is still undecided whether he will need to move to North America – it will depend on the final roster and the epidemiologic situation in the world. ALEX also said that his goals for the new team is to emerge victorious at FLASHPOINT League and to win a major before the French teams.

Earlier Cloud9 parted ways with their previous CS:GO roster and hired former commentator Henry "HenryG" Greer for the general manager position and Aleksandar "kassad" Trifunović (ex-100 Thieves, Renegades, mousesports) for the head coach role.
