The group stage of the ongoing CS:GO tournament CIS Minor Championship – Katowice 2019 has completed, determining four participants of the playoffs stage. In the semifinals Team Spirit will face AVANGAR, while Winstrike Team will compete with Gambit Esports.
The group stage was played on January 16-17, it featured two GSL groups of four teams. In Group A Team Spirit placed first after defeating Nemiga Gaming (19:16) and Syman Gaming (2:0), while Gambit Esports secured the second place – they lost to Syman Gaming (12:16) in the opening match, but later managed to outplay Nemiga Gaming (2:0) and Syman Gaming (2:1). In Group B Winstrike Team showed the best result by defeating Runtime.gg (16:6) and AVANGAR (2:1), while AVANGAR finished second – they outplayed pro100 (16:5) in the opening match, and after losing to Winstrike they managed to win against pro100 once more, this time – with the 2:0 score.

The playoffs stage will begin tomorrow, on January 18th. It will feature a double-elimination bracket without grand finals, where all series will be best-of-three.
CIS Minor Championship – Katowice 2019 takes place on January 16-20 in Katowice, Poland. It features eight teams competing for their share of a $50,000 prize pool. The teams placed 1st and 2nd will participate in the New Challenger stage of IEM Katowice Major 2019, while the team placed 3rd will advance to Minors’ 3rd Place Plain-In, where 4 teams from CIS, Europe, Americas and Asia will compete for the last spot at the major.
