This weekend the city of Abu Dhabi, which is in United Arab Emirates, hosted a $100,000 Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament PLG Grand Slam 2018. In the grand finals of the event Fnatic defeated G2 Esports with the 2-0 score, winning $70,000 in prize money.
The event was held on December 13th – 15th and featured 16 teams, half of which received direct invites – Fnatic, G2 Esports, HellRaisers, NASR eSports, Energy Esports, TyLoo, AVANGAR and Chosen5, while the other half of the participants made it through the regional qualifiers, among which are forZe (Europe), INTZ eSports (North America), Sharks Esports (South America), Grayhound Gaming (Oceania), 5PowerGaming (East Asia), B.O.O.T-dream[S]cape (Southeast Asia), ShotCallers (Persia) and ECL.gg (Africa). These teams competed in four GSL groups to determine eight participants of the playoffs stage, which was held with a single-elimination system with best-of-three series.
