The first stage of Intel Extreme Masters XIII – Katowice Major 2019 called The New Challengers has completed, determining eight teams that will play in the second stage of the event, The New Legends.
The New Challengers Stage was held on February 13th – 17th. It featured 16 teams, 10 of which qualified to the event through the regional minors, while the other 6 teams secured their place at the event by placing 9th – 14th at the previous major. They competed following the Swiss System Format, with all regular matches being best-of-one and elimination/advancement matches being best-of-three. NRG Esports, Renegades, ENCE eSports, Team Vitality, AVANGAR, Ninjas in Pyjamas, G2 Esports and Cloud9 made it to the second stage of the major, while the other teams got eliminated.

The New Legends Stage is scheduled for February 20th - 24th. Eight teams from the first stage will face top-8 teams from FACEIT Major: London 2018 in a Swiss System Format. The best eight teams will proceed to the final New Champions stage.
IEM Season XII – Katowice 2019 takes place from February 13th – March 3rd in Katowice, Poland. The event’s line-up consists of 24 teams that compete for their share of a $1,000,000 prize pool.
