ESL has revealed the list of teams that received direct invites to participate in the European and North American closed qualifiers for their $250,000 CS:GO event Intel Extreme Masters XIV – Sydney. BIG, G2 Esports, HellRaisers, and North have been invited to play in the European qualifiers, while compLexity Gaming, Team Envy, Ghost Gaming and Luminosity Gaming will play in the NA qualifiers.
The closed qualifiers in both regions will be held on February 6-8th, with both of them sharing the same format: eight participating teams, a double-elimination bracket with regular matches being best-of-three and the grand finals being best-of-five, and only one ticket to the main event. They will be preceded by open qualifiers, which will determine the rest of the closed qualifiers participants.
The closed qualifiers will also be held in China, East Asia, Southeast Asia and Oceania, all of them are scheduled for late March – early April.
IEM Sydney XIV will be held from April 30 – May 5 at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia. The event is part of the second season of Intel Grand Slam; the prize pool is set at $250,000. Earlier the organizers invited FaZe Clan and Renegades to the main event. Overall the line-up will consist of 16 teams, including 9 invited teams, six regional qualifiers winners, and the winner of IEM Sydney Derby.
