ESL One: New York 2018, a $250,000 CS:GO tournament, has concluded. In the grand finals mousesports defeated Team Liquid with the score of 3-2, receiving $125,000 and 1 point towards Intel Grand Slam.
The event was held on September 26-30 at a sports arena Barclays Center. First, eight participating teams were seeded into two GSL groups with best-of-three series. Then, top two teams from each group advanced to the single-elimination playoffs bracket with best-of-three semifinals and best-of-five grand finals.
Both mousesports and Team Liquid placed first in their groups: mousesports defeated Fnatic (2:1) and Gambie Esports (2:1) in Group A, while Team Liquid outplayed NRG Esports (2:1) and G2 Esports (2:0) in Group B. In playoffs, both semifinals concluded with the 2:0 score: Team Liquid defeated NRG Esports, while Gambit Esports were outplayed by Gambit Esports. mousesports started the grand finals with a victory, as they defeated their opponents 16:12 at Cache, but the European team lost the following two maps (7:16 at Nuke; 10:16 at Inferno). Later though the team managed to bounce back and win the final two maps – they emerged victorious at Dust II (19:17) and Mirage (16:8).
For mousesports this is the third victory at a premier LAN-event this year – earlier the team emerged victorious at StarLadder & i-League StarSeries Season 4 and V4 Future Sports Festival – Budapest 2018.
