Last weekend Los Angeles hosted a $150,000 Counter-Strike: Global Offensive event CS_Summit 3. In the final series of the event NRG Esports defeated OpTic Gaming, securing $63,750 in prize money.
The event was held on November 1st – 4th at the home studio of Beyond The Summit. All eight participants of the event accepted direct invites from the organizers, among them were BIG, compLexity Gaming, G2 Esports, Ghost Gaming, Heroic, Team Kinguin, NRG Esports and OpTic Gaming. They competed in a double-elimination playoffs bracket with all regular matches being best-of-three, while the grand finals was best-of-five with a 1-map advantage for the upper bracket team.
NRG Esports made it to the finals through the upper bracket, where they defeated Ghost Gaming (2:1), Heroic (2:0) and BIG (2:1). On the other hand OpTic Gaming lost their very first match against compLexity Gaming (1:2), dropping to the lower bracket, where they outplayed G2 Esports (2:1), Heroic (2:1), compLexity (2:0) and BIG (2:0). In the grand finals OpTic won the first map (Nuke) with the score of 16:14, but then lost at both Overpass (16:8) and Mirage (16:6).
