Last week Bangkok, the capital of Thailand hosted a $100,000 Counter-Strike: Global Offensive event called TOYOTA Master CS:GO Bangkok 2018. In the grand finals of the event Heroic defeated TyLoo with the 3-2 score, receiving $40,000 in prize money.
The tournament’s line-up included 10 teams, four of them had received direct invites – Renegades, TyLoo, Heroic and Team Kinguin, while the other six teams made it through the regional qualifiers – Team One (North America), AGO Esports (Europe), pro100 (CIS), 5Power Gaming (China), MVP PK (Southeast Asia) and Alpha Red (Thailand).
During the group stage these teams competed in two round-robin groups with best-of-two series. The best team from each group advanced directly to the semifinals, while the teams placed 2nd and 3rd made it to the quarterfinals. The playoffs stage featured a single-elimination bracket with best-of-three quarterfinals and semifinals and best-of-five grand finals.
As Heroic placed first in Group B, they started the playoffs from the semifinals, where they defeated Renegades (2-1). TyLoo qualified for the playoffs from the third place in Group A – they outplayed pro100 (2-1) in the quarterfinals and AGO Esports (2-1) in the semifinals. The final series concluded with the 3-2 score in favour of the European squad.
