An online Dota 2 event GG.Bet Birmingham Invitational starts today, with eight teams competing for a ticket to ESL One Birmingham and $5,000 of prize money. This tournament is a result of cooperation between GG.Bet and Maincast.
Among participants are seven invited teams – Natus Vincere, Gambit Esports, Alliance, The Final Tribe, Old but Gold, Team Empire and The Pango, as well as one qualified team – Black Hornets Gaming.
The event starts with a group stage, during which the teams will compete in two GSL groups with all matches being best-of-three expect for the first round which will be best-of-one. Then top two teams from each group will advance to the single-elimination playoffs bracket with best-of-three semifinals and best-of-five grand finals.
Alliance, Old but Gold, Natus Vincere and The Pango have been seeded into Group A. In the opening matches of Group A Alliance will face Old but Gold (14:00 BST), while Na`Vi will play with The Pango (15:15 BST). Group B will feature Team Empire, The Final Tribe, Gambit Esports and Black Hornets Gaming. In the first round Empire will compete with Hornets (16:30 BST) and TFT will face Gambit (17:45 BST).
The playoffs stage will be held over April 12th – April 13th. The winner of the event will qualify for ESL One Birmingham, while the runner-up will receive $5,000 in prize money. The official broadcast can be found here.
