The Chinese tournament operator Imba Media has issued a statement in which it accuses the Dota 2 division of the Newbee organization in match fixing. The team has been permanently banned from participating in Imba Media events as well as disqualified from the ongoing DPL-CDA Professional League, with their opponents receiving 2:0 technical victories. Newbee denied the accusations.
The company claims that it made “multiple verifications” to confirm that Newbee profited from participating in unfair matches, however they have not released any evidence to the public. The evidence is reportedly provided to both Valve and Dota 2 distributor in China Perfect World. Newbee were also excluded from CDA, a union of the Chinese Dota 2 teams. However, they can make an appeal in the next five days.
The ban is applied to the following players: Yin "Aq" Rui, Wen "Wizard" Lipeng, Yan "Waixi" Chao, Zeng "Faith" Hongda and Xu "Moogy" Han. Lai "Fonte" Xingyu, who is also part of the team, is not listed among banned players. Besides that, the head of Dota 2 division in Newbee, Feng "Feng" Yiqing was banned from working for any company that is a member of the CDA union.
In their statement Newbee, denied accusations in match fixing and said that they will file an appeal.
