Valve have shared the details on The International 2019, which begins in a week. The developers revealed the tournament’s format and schedule, as well as the list of talents.
The group stage, which will take place on August 15-18th, will feature two groups with round robin format and best-of-two series. Top four teams from each group will advance to the playoffs upper bracket, the teams placed 5-8th will make it to the lower bracket. The teams placed last will be eliminated. Each day the matches will start on 2:00 AM BST, with each following match beginning an hour and a half later.
The playoffs stage is scheduled for August 20-25th. Sixteen teams will compete in a double-elimination format where most matches will be best-of-three, while the first round of lower bracket will be best-of-one and the grand finals will be best-of-five. The main event days will begin on 3:00 AM BST. The full schedule is available on the official website.
Currently the prize pool of The International 2019 exceeds $32,000,000. The winner of the event will get 45.5% of the prize pool, which currently is about $14,600,000. The main event will be held at Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai, China.
