Valve decided to disqualify the ex-PaiN X roster, which currently plays as test 123 and qualified for The Chongqing Major from South America, from the South American regional qualifiers, meaning that they will lose their slot at the major. They will be replaced by Thunder Predator, who placed third in the qualifier.
In their official statement Valve explained that PaiN X, which consists of two Brazilian players and three players from the USA, approached them three month ago about participating in the South American qualifiers by “traveling back and forth to the region, rather than staying in the region”. Valve explained them that they can’t do it because they are not an actual South American team since they do not play there all the time, thus the team “does not provide any meaningful benefit to the region”. Despite that, the team still decided to take part in the South American regional qualifiers for The Chongqing Major, where they placed first. After an investigation, Valve decided to remove them from the South American qualifiers.
At the major ex-Pain X roster will be replaced by a Peruvian team Thunder Predator, who placed third in the qualifier.
