Gen.G Emerged Victorious at 2018 HGC Finals

2018 Heroes of the Storm Global Championship Finals has completed with a victory of the South Korean team Gen.G over the European squad Dignitas with the 3-0 score. The champions received $500,000 in prize money.

Both finalists qualified for the playoffs from the first places in their groups – Gen.G placed first in Group A with the 4-1-0 map score, while Dignitas finished their run in Group B with the 5-0-0 score. In the playoffs Gen.G defeated TheOne (2:0) and Team Liquid (3:2), while Dignitas outplayed Tempo Storm (2:0) and Miracle (3:1). The final series concluded with the 3:0 score in favour of the South Korean squad. Earlier this year they placed first at 2018 HGC Mid-Season Brawl, 2018 HGC Phase #2 Eastern Clash and 2018 HGC Phase #2 South Korea Pro League.

2018 HGC Finals is the main Heroes of the Storm event of the year. It was held from October 25th – November 3rd during BlizzCon. It featured 12 teams competing for a $1,000,000 prize pool. First, the participants were seeded into two groups with round-robin format and best-of-two series. Then top four teams from each group advanced to a single-elimination playoffs bracket with best-of-three quarterfinals and best-of-five semifinals and grand finals.
