2019 World Championship, the main League of Legends event of the year, has concluded with FunPlus Phoenix defeating G2 Esports, claiming over $830,000 in prize money.
The Chinese team FunPlus Phoenix started the competition in Group B, where they placed first after defeating GAM Esports (2-0) and breaking even with J Team and Splyce. In the playoffs stage FunPlux Phoenix outplayed Fnatic (3-1) in the quarterfinals, Invictus Gaming (3-1) in the semifinals and G2 Esports (3-0) in the grand finals.
2019 World Championship was held on October 12 – November 10. The event was split into four stages held in three European cities, including Berlin, Madrid and Paris. The tournament’s line-up included 24 teams that competed for their stare of a $2,000,000+ prize pool.
