The final of League of Legends World Championship is around the corner, and the prize pool of the tournament keeps growing – so far it has been increased by $2.3M by crowdfunding and currently is $4.6M.

The initial prize pool was set at $2.3M. The fans are able to contribute to it by buying special in-game cosmetic items Championship Ashe and Championship Ward Skin, 25% of revenue from them goes to the Worlds prize pool. Since the beginning of the sales the prize pool was doubled to a hefty number of $4.6M. Riot at their end promised to donate an equivalent of this sum to charity. It should be noted, that last year the prize pool of World Championship exceeded $5M, which may not happen this year.

The final series of 2017 World Championship will be held on November 4. Two Korean teams SK telecom T1 and Samsung Galaxy will fight for the champion title at Beijing’s Bird’s Nest Stadium in the best-of-five game. The winner will get at least $1.5M.
