The group stage of the ongoing 2018 Mid-Season Invitational has concluded, with four teams – Fnatic, Royal Never Give Up, Flash Wolves and Kingzone DragonX – qualifying for the playoffs. Below are the results of the group stage and the preview of the playoffs.
The group stage of the tournament was held on May 11-15 at EU LCS Studio in Berlin. The list of participants consisted of six teams, four of which were directly seeded and represented their regions – Fnatic from Europe, Kingzone DragonX from Korea, Royal Never Give Up from China, and Team Liquid from North America, while the other two teams qualified from the play-in stage – EVOS Esports and Flash Wolves. They were put into a single group with double round-robin system. EVOS Esports showed the worst results with the 2-8 score and got eliminated, while two teams – Team Liquid and Fnatic finished with the 4-6 score and participated in a tiebreaker, which concluded in the favor of Fnatic. Royal Never Give Up defeated Flash Wolves in a tiebreaker for the first place.

The competition will continue on May 18th at Zenith Paris - La Villette with the playoffs stage with single-elimination bracket and best-of-five series. As Royal Never Give Up placed first in the group, they were able to choose their opponents for the semifinals. As the result, Royal Never Give Up will face Fnatic, while Flash Wolves will play versus Kingzone DragonX.
