Mid-Season Invitational 2019 is reaching its end, as only four teams – Invictus Gaming, SK Telecom T1, G2 Esports and Team Liquid – remain in the competition. These teams showed the best results in the Group Stage and will compete in the final Knockout Stage.
The Group Stage, which was held on May 10th – 14th, featured six teams competing in a single group with double round-robin format and best-of-one series. Based on the results of the stage, two teams – Flash Wolves and Phong Vu Buffalo – have been eliminated.
|2.||SK Telecom T1||7-3|
|6.||Phong Vu Buffalo||2-8|
The final Knockout Stage is scheduled for May 17th – 19th and will take place at Heping Basketball Gymnasium in Taipei, Taiwan. The teams will compete in a single-elimination bracket with best-of-five series. All four participating teams placed first in their regional spring events – Invictus Gaming in LPL (China), Team Liquid in LCS (North America), SK Telecom T1 in LCK (South Korea), and G2 Esports in LEC (Europe).
In the first semifinal Invictus Gaming will face Team Liquid (May 17th, 11:00 AM BST). According to the GG.Bet odds, IG are the clear favourite of this match-up, which comes as no surprise considering the fact that the Chinese team is the reigning world champion. The second semifinals, which will pit SK Telecom T1 and G2 Esports, is scheduled for May 18th, 8:00 AM BST. Again, the odds are in favour of the Asian team – after the disappointing previous season, when the team failed to qualify for 2018 World Championship , the team significantly updated their roster and are now dominating probably the strongest region. The final series will be played on May 19th, 8:00 AM. The winner of the event will get at least $400,000 in prize money.
