As it was announced earlier this year, the North American League of Legends Championship Series will become a franchise league in 2018. Today Riot announced the complete list of its members. NA LCS will consist of 10 teams, including:
|Team SoloMid||Golden Guardians|
|Echo Fox||Clutch Gaming|
|100 Thieves||Team Liquid|
|OpTic Gaming||Counter Logic Gaming|
This list includes not only esports organizations, but also some of the traditional sports industry giants such as Golden State Warriors (team Golden Guardians), Cleveland Cavaliers (team 100 Thieves) and Houston Rockets (team Clutch Gaming). At the same time, the teams that used to take part in NA LCS but failed to secure their spot this season, including Immortals, Team EnVyUs, Team Dignitas and Phoenix1, will receive a monetary compensation from Riot based on their results in the league. It is rumored that the biggest compensation will be given to Immortals, who participated in four Splits – $2,800,000.
NA LCS will transition to a franchise model in 2018. The league will consist of 10 permanent members, who will equally share the income from the events and get more rights and influence over the league.
