Twitch Rivals and Respawn Entertainment have announced a series of Apex Legends online events called Apex Legends Challenge with a total prize pool of $200,000. Among participants are the top streamers from North America and Europe, including Michael "shroud" Grzesiek, Herschel "Dr DisRespect" Beahm IV, Sacriel and others.
Overall there will be four events – two in Europe and two in North America, each of them will feature a $50,000 prize pool. While the complete list of participants has not been announced yet, both Europe and North America will have 24 players each. The following players have already confirmed their participation in the event:
The first pair of events will take place on February 12th, while the final two events will be held on February 19th. The European events will start at 5 PM GMT, while the North American part of the challenge will begin at 9 PM GMT. Each event will last four hours. The players will play in public matches, receiving tournament points for both kills (1 point) and wins (5 points).
The official stream will be available on the Twitch Rivals channel, the action will be also broadcasted by most of the participants on their personal channels.
Apex Legends is a new team-focused Battle Royale game developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts, which was released on February 4th as a free-to-play title on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Recently EA announced that the game attracted 10 million unique players in just 72 hours after its release.
