DAC 2018: Results of the Groups and Breakout, Preview of Playoffs
Dota 2 Asia Championship is well under way – both the group stage and the breakout stage have completed, determining top eight teams who will continue the competition in the playoffs stage.
The competition for a $1,000,000 prize pool and 1500 qualification points has started with a group stage, in which 16 participating teams were seeded into two groups of eight with the round-robin format. Top two teams from each group advanced to the playoffs, the teams placed 3rd-6th made it to the Breakout, while the other teams got eliminated. Let’s take a look at the results of the group stage.

As we can see, while the competition in Group A was close and the teams had to play tie-breakers to determine who will advance to the playoffs, Group B was dominated by both Virtus.pro and Mineski. In the Breakout stage all series concluded with the 2-0 score: Evil Geniuses defeated Newbee, Team Liquid outplayed VGJ.Thunder, OpTic Gaming managed to overcome Invictus Gaming, while Team Secret lost to Vici Gaming.
The playoffs stage begins already tomorrow, on April 4th. It will feature a double-elimination bracket with best-of-three regular matches and best-of-five grand finals. Moreover, the first two round of the lower bracket will be held in a best-of-one format.
