GPK to Stand In for Evil Geniuses

Gambit Esports have agreed to loan Danil "gpk" Skutin to Evil Geniuses for a short period – the player will stand in for the team at the upcoming OMEGA League, replacing the team’s midlaner Abed Azel L. Yusop.

Gpk~ has been part of Gambit Esports since August 2019. This February the player wanted to transfer to Virtus.pro, however the organizations failed to come to an agreement and the player was benched due to refusing to participate in the training process. After almost a month on the bench, GPK returned to the active roster. However, the team hasn’t had a stable roster since May, when their captain Artsiom "fng" Barshak started playing for Alliance. During the last few months Gpk stood in for Team Spirit, Winstrike Team and HellRaisers.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic the Dota 2 scene was forced to split into regional events, which put Evil Geniuses in a tough situation as their roster includes players from multiple regions. For this reason, they have been unable to compete with all players due to connection issues. Earlier the team used to play in the North American region, however recently they refused to participate in several American events and instead were announced to partake in the European $500,000 event OMEGA League Immortal Division Europe.
