Next Dota 2 Major Will be Held this November in Kuala Lumpur
It has been revealed that the next Dota 2 major tournament will take place in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia and the biggest city of the country. The tournament will be organized by PGL, who earlier helped Valve to organize multiple Dota Pro Circuit events as well as the latest The International.
The Kuala Lumpur Major will feature 16 teams competing for a $1,000,000 prize pool. The major will be held on November 9-18 at Axiata Arena, which capacity exceeds 14,000 viewers. The group stage will be played on November 9-10, while the playoffs will last for eight days – from November 11th to November 18th.
The major will be preceded by regional qualifiers. There will be two open qualifiers in each region, the first one will take place on September 10th, while the second will start on September 13th. The closed qualifiers will take place on September 16-21.
Earlier Valve significantly changed the structure of Dota Pro Circuit. This season we will see only 5 major tournaments compared to 9 majors in the previous season. Majors and minors will be held in pairs – teams that participate in a major cannot play in a minor, while the winner of a minor will qualify for the respective major.
