North Defeat Luminosity to Become Champions of DreamHack Valencia

This weekend the Spanish city of Valencia hosted a $100,000 Counter-Strike: Global Offensive event DreamHack Open Valencia 2018. In the grand final North defeated Luminosity Gaming, winning their second DreamHack Open event in a row.

The event was held on July 12-14 and featured eight participating teams. For the group stage, the participants were seeded into two groups of four, where they competed following a GSL system. North advanced to the playoffs from Group A, where they placed second with the 2-1 score – the Danish team defeated Giants (16:8), lost to Heroic (10:16) and defeated AGO Esports (2:1). Luminosity Gaming also placed second, but in Group B – the Brazilians defeated G2 (16:10), lost to Fragsters (9:16) and outplayed G2 once again (2:1). The playoffs stage was held in a single-elimination format with best-of-three series. In the semifinals North defeated Fragsters (2:0), while Luminosity managed to beat Heroic (2:1). The final series completed with the 2:0 score in favour of North. Earlier the team also emerged victorious at DreamHack Open Tours 2018 and DreamHack Open Montreal 2017.
