Team Liquid Defeats Natus Vincere in the MegaFon Winter Clash Finals

Team Liquid have defeated Natus Vincere in the grand finals of MegaFon Winter Clash to claim $150,000 in prize money and their first championship title in the new season.

The event was held on December 7th – 9th in Moscow, Russia. It featured six teams competing for a $300,000 prize pool. First, they played in two round-robin groups with best-of-three series. Then top 1 teams from each group advanced to the winners finals, while the other teams made it to the lower bracket. The playoffs stage featured a double-elimination bracket with all regular matches being best-of-three. The grand final was played in a best-of-five, with the upper bracket winner having a one map advantage.

Both finalists placed first in their groups. In Group A Natus Vincere lost to Team Secret (1:2) and defeated Virtus.pro (2:0). Meanwhile in Group B Team Liquid outplayed 2-0 both Forward Gaming and PSG.LGD. In the winners’ finals Team Liquid defeated Natus Vincere with the 2-0 score. In the lower bracket finals Natus Vincere surprisingly managed to defeat the runner-up of The International 2018 PSG.LGD with the 2-0 score. In the grand finals Team Liquid easily outplayed Natus Vincere on two maps in a row – both of them lasted only about 28 minutes.
