Virtus.pro Win at The Bucharest Major, Qualifying for The International
Virtus.pro managed to win their second major tournament in a row, defeating VGJ.Thunder 3-0 in the Grand Finals of The Bucharest Major 2018. This victory grants them enough Dota Pro Circuit points to be qualified for The International 2018.
The Bucharest Major took place on March 4-11 at Polyvalent Hall in the capital of Romania and featured 16 teams. In the group stage they played 5 rounds in a swiss-system format with best-of-one series. Based on the results of the group stage, only eight best teams advanced to the playoffs, where they competed in a single-elimination bracket with regular matches being best-of-three and grand finals being best-of-five. VGJ.Thunder placed first in the group stage after defeating Vici Gaming, Team Secret and TNC Pro Team, while Virtus.pro finished with the 3-1 score after losing to OpTic Gaming and defeating LFY, Natus Vincere and TNC Pro Team. In the playoffs VGJ.Thunder outplayed TNC Pro Team (2-1) and Newbee (2-0), while Virtus.pro defeated OpTic Gaming (2-0) and Team Liquid (2-1). The final series looked very one-sided in favour of Virtus.pro, who managed to win 3-0 without much effort. After this event, Virtus.pro are sitting at the first place of Dota Pro Circuit with 7197 points, which makes them the first team to have mathematically enough points to be invited for The International 2018.
