Astralis Win ESL One: Road to Rio – Europe
Astralis yet again managed to prove that they are the most powerful team in the world, let alone in Europe. The team secured the first place at ESL One: Road to Rio – Europe with losing only one series during the event.
In their group Astralis lost only to Fnatic (1:2), meanwhile defeating Team Vitality (2:0), Ninjas in Pyjamas (2:1), ENCE (2:1), Complexity Gaming (2:1), Dignitas (2:0) and Heretics (2:0). Being the group’s winner, Astralis advanced to the upper bracket, where they outplayed G2 Esports (2:0) in the first round and FaZe Clan (2:0) in the second one. Thanks to making it through the upper bracket, Astralis secured a one-map advantage for the grand finals. In the final series they outplayed G2 Esports at both Nuke (16:6) and Vertigo (16:2).
ESL One: Road to Rio – Europe was played on May 22nd – April 17th and featured sixteen European teams competing for a $115,000 prize pool and RMR points, which will count towards qualifying for the only Major Championship of the year.
Earlier last week Astralis announced the signing of Jakob "JUGi" Hansen, however at the event they performed with their standard line-up.
