European Qualifiers for IEM XIV – World Championship About to Begin
Today begins the European qualifier for Intel Extreme Masters Season XIV – World Championship, a $500,000 CS:GO event with $500,000 at stake. During the qualifier eight teams will compete for three tickets to the main event.
Among the participants three received direct invites, including ENCE, FaZe Clan, and G2 Esports, while Illuminar Gaming made it to the qualifier by winning Mistrzostwa Polski: Fall 2019. The other four teams – Heroic, ARCY, AGO and MAD Lions – advanced from the open qualifier.
These teams will compete in a double-elimination bracket, where all matches will be best-of-three. Today we will be able to witness four quarterfinals, the pairs of teams were set as follows:
- G2 Esports vs AGO
- Heroic vs MAD Lions
- ENCE vs Illuminar Gaming
- FaZe Clan vs ARCY
Currently the qualifiers are also being held in North America, where the newly acquired roster of Cloud9 will face either Complexity or MIBR in the grand finals, as well as in Asia, where Vici Gaming will compete with TyLoo in the finals. The qualifiers in Oceania are scheduled to begin on January 14th.
The main event of IEM XIV – World Championship will be held on February 25th – March 1st at Spodek Arena in Katowice, Poland. Among confirmed participants are Fnatic, Astralis, mousesports, 100 Thieves, Evil Geniuses, Team Liquid, Natus Vincere, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Virtus.pro and Team Vitality.
