First Details on Artifact, a Dota 2 Card Game
Tonight Valve shared information on the upcoming Dota 2 themed card game Artifact with media. Below we gathered the main facts about the game.
- Artifact will be released in late 2018 on PC and in mid-2019 on mobile – iOS and Android.
- It won’t be free-to-play.
- It is powered by Source 2 engine.
- It will have its own marketplace and workshop, just like Dota 2.
- There will be a $1,000,000 Artifact tournament in the first quarter of 2019.
- The game is designed by Richard Garfield, the creator of Magic of the Gathering.
- There will be three desks, called “lanes”.
- You can place heroes and creeps on each lane.
- To win you either need to destroy two lanes (kill one tower at each lane) or destroy tower and ancient.
- The game will be focused on multiplayer, meaning there won’t be a single-player campaign.
- The game will provide an automated system for tournaments.
- At the moment there are 280 cards and 44 heroes in the game.
- The game will contain heroes that are not yet present in Dota 2, but will be added later.
As we reported earlier, Virtus.pro disbanded its HearthStone roster and became one of the first big esports organizations to state their plans to enter Artifact scene.
