Map Selection Will Be Added to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds
The long-requested feature is finally coming to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds! Map selection should be available for players in the next test update.
Ever since the introduction of Miramar, the second PUBG map, the community has been asking the developers to allow them to choose map to play on. With players already being able to choose between first-person view and third-person view, as well as solo, duo and squad modes, the developers didn’t want to introduce new separation to the playerbase, which could cause longer wait times. The community showed though that it is determined that this feature is needed and the developers agreed with the opinion of the majority. The new feature will be introduced in the next test update, and should everything go as planned it will be available already in the next live update. The players will be able to choose maps they want to play on. If a player selects several maps, the game will randomly pick one. If you don’t want to play at a certain map, you can simply unselect it.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds was initially released with a single 8x8km map called Erangel, created in a post-Soviet setting. Later the developers introduced the game’s second map called Miramar, which has the same size as Erangel but is based somewhere in Central America in a desert. Currently the developers are testing the game’s third map, called Savage. This map is much smaller – 4x4km – and is inspired by an island in Thailand.
