StarCraft II is a science fiction real-time strategy video game developed and released by Blizzard Entertainment. It is a sequel to the award-winning 1998 game, StarCraft, and its expansions, which is one of the games that helped establish e-sports.
Since its launch, StarCraft II has become a successful e-sport with many leagues and ongoing tournaments with prize pools up to $170,000. There are many tournaments by third-party organizers that feature top competitive players from around the world: GomTV SC2 Global League, TeamLiquid StarCraft League, Major League Gaming, ESL and the North American Star League. StarCraft II has also become the main title in major LANs throughout the world, like WCS and DreamHack.
The StarCraft II World Championship Series is Blizzard’s own league for the game. It is separated into three separate regions around the world. WCS points are awarded in each region. There are other StarCraft 2 tournaments that may not bear the WCS name, but also allow players to earn points. They are: Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) and DreamHack Open, ASUS ROG, Red Bull Battlegrounds and HomeStory Cup. The top 16 players with the most points qualify for the Global Finals at BlizzCon, where they get a shot at the $250,000 prize pool.
StarCraft has been called the most successful esport in the world and is the perfect game to start betting on esports and GG.BET is the best place for it!
