Brendan "PlayerUnknown" Greene Leaves PUBG Development Team
Brendan Greene, also known as PlayerUnknown, has left the office of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds lead designer and director. The creator of the game will remain in the position of a consulting creative director, while the actual development of PUBG will be led by Taeseok Jang from PUBG Corp.
From now on PlayerUnknown will be heading a new division of the company – PUBG Special Projects, which will be focused on research and game development. With the change of position also comes his move from Seoul to Amsterdam.
Brendan Greene was the one who initially came up with the idea of a Battle Royale mode for Arma 2, which eventually was ported to Arma 3. Later he was contacted by Sony Online Entertainment (currently Daybreak Game Company) to develop a Battle Royale mode inside their survival game H1Z1. In 2016 Brendan moved to Seoul, South Korea to join Bluehole Studio to work on PUBG, which was released in December 2017.
