Cloud9 Returns to Dota 2 with PieLieDie and MISERY
After a two-year absence, the North American organization Cloud9 announces its return to the competitive Dota 2 scene. The roster consists of Rolen "Skemberlu" Ong, Cheng "vtFαded" Jia Hao, Rasmus "MISERY" Filipsen, Francis "FrancisLee" Lee and Johan "pieliedie" Åström.
As one can see, the roster consist of two players from each Europe and Southeast Asia and one player from North America. According to the official statement of the organization, the team will begin competing in the Southeast Asian region, however they are looking to represent North America in future.
MISERY and Pieliedie earlier played together in Cloud9 (2015) and Team Secret (2015-16). MISERY is a 28-years-old offlaner from Denmark, his most recent team was Chaos E.C.. With them he attended The International 2019, where they placed 17-18th. 28-years-old support from Sweden Pieliedie spent the second half of previous season with Forward Gaming, which later was acquired by Newbee and placed 9-12th at TI9.
Skemberlu is a 19-years-old Filipino carry player, who since the start of this season has been playing for Neon Esports. With them he emerged victorious at several local tournaments, including Predator League 2020, VARENA Challenge Season 2 and Asia Dota2 Master League Season 1. The team’s middle laner vtFaded is a 21-years-old player from Malaysia, who this season played for EHOME – they won Hainan Master Cup and participated in MDL Chengdu Major, where placed 9-12th. The team’s only North American player is their semi-support FLee, who most recently played for Demon Slayers and helped them to place second at DreamLeague Season 12.
Cloud9 disbanded their previous Dota 2 roster in 2017. Currently the organization is represented in multiple disciplines, including CS:GO, League of Legends, Rainbow Six: Siege and others. They also manage the Overwatch League franchise London Spitfire.
