FURIA Break Eight-Year Drought with FISSURE Playground 2 Triumph
FURIA scored a long-awaited big-event victory by winning FISSURE Playground 2. In the final the team defeated The MongolZ 3-2 in a drawn-out series that lasted nearly six hours. It was the first trophy of this caliber for the organization after 38 attempts, marking a historic milestone.
The team entered the tournament with a refreshed lineup: just five months ago FURIA decided to go international, adding molodoy and YEKINDAR. This duo became the driving force in the final, where four maps went down to the wire and two required overtime. molodoy finished the tournament with the team’s highest rating of 1.19 and picked up his first MVP award.
The final series started on Mirage where The MongolZ quickly took the lead, but FURIA rescued the situation thanks to molodoy and YEKINDAR dominating the extra rounds. On Inferno the story reversed — Senzu stepped up with a pistol ace and a decisive 1v2, but FURIA regrouped and convincingly won Nuke despite a late comeback from their opponents, where FalleN delivered key plays.
On Overpass The MongolZ once again led the score — Techno produced a string of multi-kills and mzinho sealed the round with a decisive clutch. However, on Dust2 FURIA seized control from the first rounds, quickly building a 7-5 lead and not dropping a single round on defense to close the final.
