G2 Esports, FaZe Clan and MAD Lions to IEM XIV – World Championship
The European qualifier for Intel Extreme Masters Season XIV – World Championship has concluded, determining three teams that will participate in the main stage of the $500,000 event. These teams are G2 Esports, FaZe Clan and MAD Lions.
The qualifier was held on January 9-10th and featured eight teams competing in a double-elimination bracket with best-of-three series. G2 Esports and FaZe Clan made it through the upper bracket – G2 outplayed AGO (2-1) and MAD Lions (2-1), while FaZe managed to beat ARCY (2-0) and ENCE (2-1). In the lower bracket finals MAD Lions outplayed ENCE with the 2-0 score, emerging victorious at both Overpass (16:7) and Mirage (16:10).

Earlier regional qualifiers also concluded in North America and Asia, with each of the regions sending one team to the main event. In the grand final on the NA qualifier Cloud9 defeated MIBR (3-1), while in the decider series of the Asian qualifier Vici Gaming outplayed TyLoo (3-0). The Oceanic qualifier is scheduled for January 14-16th and will determine the last participant of the main event.
IEM Season XIV – World Championship will be held in Katowice, Poland on February 25th – March 1st. The event will feature 16 teams competing for a $500,000 prize pool. The list of participants looks as follows:
- Invited Teams: 100 Thieves, Evil Geniuses, Team Liquid, Natus Vincere, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Virtus.pro, Team Vitality
- Event Winners: Fnatic (DH Masters Malmo 2019), Astralis (IEM Beijing 2019), mousesports (ESL Pro League S10 Finals)
- European Qualifier: FaZe Clan, G2 Esports, MAD Lions
- North American Qualifier: Cloud9
- Asian Qualifier: Vici Gaming
- Oceanic Qualifier: TBD
