OpTic Gaming Releases their Dota 2 Roster
The North American organization OpTic Gaming announced on its Twitter account that they parted ways with its Dota 2 roster. All players have been released from their contract obligations and became free agents.
OpTic Gaming entered the Dota 2 scene in the post-TI7 reshuffle period by signing The Dire, a mix created by Peter "ppd" Dager which initially also included Per Anders "Pajkatt" Olsson, Quinn "CC&C" Callahan, Rasmus "MiSeRy" Filipsen and Ludwig "zai" Wåhlberg. Later in November Rasmus "MiSeRy" Filipsen left the team, eventually being replaced by Neta "33" Shapira.
The team placed 2nd at ROG Masters 2017, 1st at StarLadder Invitational Season 5, 2nd at ESL One Birmingham 2018 and 5-6th at China Dota2 Supermajor, finishing the DPC season at the 9th place and being just one step away from receiving direct invite to The International 2018. They placed third at the closed North American qualifiers, making it to the main event of the season. At TI8 OpTic Gaming managed to finish the group stage at the fourth place with a score of 8-8, advancing to the upper bracket. In the playoffs they lost 0-2 to Team Liquid, defeated 2-0 Team Serenity, and lost 1-2 to Virtus.pro, placing 7-8th at the event and receiving $638,000 in prize money.
