TobiWan Ends his Esports Career Following Accusations in Sexual Misconduct
The Australian Dota 2 commentator Toby "TobiWan" Dawson has revealed that he decided to end his esports career. The announcement comes a week after the commentator was accused in sexual misconduct by the Danish cosplayer Meruna.
In his statement TobiWan stresses that he is “not guilty of any criminal offense” and issues an apology if his actions have offended anyone. He also notes that from now on his focus will shift towards his family and future plans.
TobiWan is one of the first professional Dota commentators, who started casting the discipline in 2005, worked for joinDOTA between 2011 and 2017, and became a freelancer in 2018. TobiWan worked on all The International events as a caster. Following the accusations, a number of Dota 2 talents, including Alan "Nahaz" Bester, Owen "ODPixel" Davies, and Austin "Capitalist" Walsh, refused to work with TobiWan, meanwhile Valve deleted his voice lines from the Battle Pass.
Earlier another Dota 2 commentator Grant "GranDGranT" Harris, who had been accused in sexual harassment, was fired by Evil Geniuses and ended his esports career.
