Valve Announced Reduction of Invited Teams to CS:GO Majors

Valve announced in their blog that teams that will finish the New Challengers Stage of the upcoming FACEIT Major: London 2018 with the score of 0:3 won’t be automatically invited to the next major tournament in Katowice.

Currently the majors have the following system: all participants of the New Legends Stage automatically qualify for the next major – top eight teams become “Legends” and are invited to the corresponding stage, while the bottom eight teams are invited to the opening Challengers stage where they compete with the teams from the regional minors. This will change with FaceIT Major. Bottom two teams which will finish their participation in the event with the 0:3 score will have to qualify for next major in Katowice through the minors. To determine the last two participants of the Katowice Major Valve will host a special event for the teams that will take 3rd place at the minors.

FaceIT Major: London 2018 will take place on September 5-23. Twenty-four teams will compete for their share of a $1,000,000 prize pool. The following major be held in Katowice, Poland by ESL at the beginning of the next year.
