Valve Forced Organizers of MDL Macau to Invite EHOME
Mars Media, the organizers of the upcoming minor Dota 2 tournament MDL Macau, stated that the tournament will feature nine instead of previously announced eight teams with EHOME joining two directly invited and six qualified teams.
This decision was forced by Valve, which was confirmed by both sides. According to the Dota 2 Pro Circuit rules, there should be qualifiers in each region for each minor or major tournament. Instead of hosting a Chinese qualifier, Mars Media decided to invite the winner of the fourth season of Dota2 Professional League (DPL). EHOME were not allowed to take part in the tournament because they were banned by ACE (Association for Chinese Esports) due to having two ex-Wings players – Faith_bian and y` – in their roster. In should be noted, that all ex-Wings players were banned by ACE as a reaction to player’s decision to leave their organization while still having active contracts. Hence, it was decided to invite EHOME to the minor tournament, which means that the organizers will have to change the format of the tournament to make it suitable for nine participating teams.
MDL Macau is a minor tournament hosted by Mars Media. The prize pool is set at $300,000. The finals will be held on December 8-10.
