Vega Squadron Won’t Attend GESC Thailand Minor
The management of the CIS-based organization Vega Squadron announced that the team won’t be able to participate in the upcoming Dota 2 minor tournament GESC Thailand due to visa issues. It remains unknown who will replace them.
According to the official statement all players in the team already have visas to Thailand, but in order to participate in MDL Major they filed their documents to the Chinese consulate, which failed to do their part in time and W_Zayac and Blizzy won’t be able to get their IDs back in time. The management of the organization decided to not participate in the tournament with two substitutes, instead this time will be spent to practice before the major.
GESC Thailand Minor will be held on May 9-12 in Bangkok. It was supposed to feature 9 teams: two invited teams – Team Secret and Evil Geniuses, as well as the winners of regional qualifiers and the local Thailand qualifier – Alpha Red (Thailand), Fnatic (Southeast Asia), Keen Gaming (China), VGJ.Storm (North America), SG e-sports (South America), The Final Tribe (Europe). All teams will compete in a single group with round-robin format and best-of-one series, with top six teams advancing to the single-elimination playoffs bracket with best-of-three series. The teams will compete for their share of a $300,000 prize pool and 300 Pro Circuit points.
