Team Liquid Are the Winners of ESL Pro League Season 9 Finals
Team Liquid have defeated G2 Esports in the grand finals of ESL Pro League Season 9, claiming $250,000 in prize money and getting one point towards Intel Grand Slam Season 2.
The final stage of ESL Pro League Season 9 took place on June 18th – 23rd in Montpellier, France. First, sixteen teams competed in two GSL groups. Then the winners of each group advanced directly to the semifinals, while the teams placed 2nd and 3rd made it to the quarterfinals. The quarterfinals and semifinals were best-of-three, while the grand finals was best-of-five.
Both G2 Esports and Team Liquid placed third in their groups, so their way to the grand finals started in the quarterfinals where they defeated FaZe Clan (2-0) and Astralis (2-1) respectively. In the semifinals G2 Esports outplayed NRG Esports (2-1), while Team Liquid managed to beat mousesports (2-0). In the grand finals G2 Esports emerged victorious at Nuke (16:12), while Team Liquid were stronger at Dust II (19:15), Overpass (16:3) and Inferno (25:22).
Currently Team Liquid are one step away from winning Intel Grand Slam Season 2 and getting $1,000,000 in prize money – earlier they emerged victorious at both IEM XIV – Sydney and DreamHack Masters Dallas 2019.
