Astralis Will Not Attend EPICENTER 2018
Astralis, the reigning world champions and undoubtedly the strongest Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team in the world, has decided to withdraw from the upcoming event EPICENTER 2018 to recover after a “massive traveling schedule”. It remains unknown who will replace the team at the event.
EPICENTER 2018 will be held on October 23-28 at Park of Legends Ice Palace in Moscow, Russia. Already on November 2nd begins another premier event – BLAST Pro Series: Copenhagen, which will take place in Denmark and Astralis are listed among the participants of the event. Naturally, when it came to choosing between these two events Astralis chose the second one, as they do not need to travel to another country and the prize pools of the events are very close – $300,000 at EPICENTER against $250,000 at BLAST Pro Series. Earlier in September Astralis attended three events – they placed second at DreamHack Masters Stockholm 2018 and won both FACEIT Major: London 2018 and BLAST Pro Series: Istanbul 2018.
EPICENTER 2018 was announced few months ago. The event is to feature eight teams competing for a $300,000 prize pool. FaZe Clan, Team Liquid, and Natus Vincere have accepted direct invites. Another two invited teams will be revealed later. The rest of the participants of the main event will be determined by the results of the Wild Card stage.
