ESL One Mumbai 2019 Loses Five Participants and Adjusts Format

ESL have announced that five teams, including Ninjas in Pyjamas, Alliance, Gambit Esports, Chaos Esports Club and J.Storm, have withdrawn from their upcoming event ESL One Mumbai 2019. As a result, the organizers have adjusted the tournament’s format and invited TEAM TEAM.

Three teams – NiP, Alliance and Gambit – decided to withdraw from ESL One Mumbai 2019 since they qualified to the minor tournament OGA Dota PIT Minor 2019, and these two events are held back-to-back. The management of Chaos E.C. explained that due to a heavy schedule their team decided to pass on the event and focus on practicing. J.Storm has not released a statement on the issue.

Since the number of participants has been reduced to 8, ESL adjusted the group stage format. The teams will play in two GSL groups with best-of-three series. Top two teams from each group will advance to the playoffs upper bracket, the other teams will compete in the lower bracket.
