Games Clash Masters 2018: Heroic Defeats Team Kinguin in the Finals

This weekend the Polish city of Gdynia hosted a $90,000 Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament with eight participating teams. In the grand finals Heroic defeated Team Kinguin with the 2:1 score, taking home $50,000 in prize money.

The event took place on September 28-30 at Gdynia Arena. The tournament’s line-up consisted of three invited teams – Fragsters, Heroic, and Red Reserve, as well as five qualified teams – AGO Esports, Team Kinguin, Sprout, x-kom Team, and PACT.

During the group stage the teams competed in two GSL groups, with opening and winner’s matches being best-of-one and elimination and decider matches being best-of-three. The group stage determined four participants of the playoffs stage, which was held in a single-elimination format with all matches being best-of-three.

Both Heroic and Team Kinguin qualified for the playoffs from Group A. In the opening match Heroic defeated Team Kinguin, later proceeding to defeating Sprout (2:1). After their loss Team Kinguin managed to defeat Sprout (2:1) and Pact (2:1), placing second in the group and qualifying for the playoffs. In the playoffs both semifinals concluded with the 2:0 score: Heroic defeated AGO Esports, while Fragsters lost to Team Kinguin. In the grand finals Heroic lost at Mirage (3:16), but won at Train (16:9) and Nuke (16:7).
