Team Empire Defeats G2 Esports in the Six Major Raleigh 2019 Finals

Team Empire have emerged victorious at Six Major Raleigh 2019, securing $200,000 in prize money. In the grand finals they defeated the current world champions G2 Esports, who received $80,000.

The event was held on August 12th-18 in Raleigh, United States. First, sixteen teams competed in four GSL groups, and then top two teams from each group advanced to a single-elimination playoffs bracket. Team Empire placed first in Group A, where they outplayed Team SoloMid (2-1) and MIBR (2-0). Later in the playoffs they defeated FaZe Clan (2-1) and Team Secret (2-1). In the grand finals they lost at Kafe Dostoyevsky (6-8), but won at Border (7-5), Clubhouse (7-5) and Coastline (7-3). This is the first time in the last 12 months when G2 Esports lose at an event they attend – earlier they emerged victorious at Six Major Paris 2018, Pro League Season 8 Finals and Six Invitational 2019.
