Team Secret Emerged Victorious at DreamLeague Season 8

The second major tournament of the new Dota 2 professional season has concluded. In the Grand Finals of DreamLeague Season 8 Team Secret defeated Team Liquid 3-0.

The tournament features eight participating teams, one team qualified from each North America, South America, China, and Southeast Asia regions, while another four teams made it through the joint Europe and CIS online league. The tournament skipped the group stage, instead all teams were placed in a double-elimination playoffs bracket with best-of-three regular matches and best-of-five grand finals.

Both Team Secret and Team Liquid made it all the way through the upper bracket and faced each other in the Winner’s Finals. Liquid lost 1-2 and dropped to the lower bracket, where they outplayed Evil Geniuses 2-0 and deserved a return match in the grand finals against Secret. Even though the teams played very close in the first two games, both of the maps ended in the favor of the team led by Puppey, and in the third game it looked like Liquid had their moral low and lost the series 0-3.

DreamLeague Season 8 was held on December 1-3 at Elmia Conventional Centre in Jönköping, Sweden. The prize pool was set at $1,000,000.
