Vainglory World Championship Results and Reveal of 5v5 Mode

The main event of the competitive Vainglory scene has concluded with a victory of a North American team Tribe over ACE Gaming from South Korea.

Vainglory World Championship 2017 was held on December 14-17 at Kallang Theatre in Singapore. The tournament’s line-up featured 12 best teams all across the world, they competed for their share of a $140,000 prize pool. The teams were seeded into four groups of three with a round-robin format and two-game series, the best two teams from each group advanced to the playoff.

In the playoffs the teams faced each other in a single-elimination bracket with best-of-five regular matches and best-of-seven grand finals. On their way to the grand finals Tribe defeated G2 Esports (3-0) and Cloud9 (3-1). In the final series of the tournament they faced South Koreans from ACE Gaming, who previously defeated paIN Gaming (3-2) and Impunity (3-1). The grand finals ended with the 3-1 score in favour of Tribe, granting them the championship title.

In the final day of the tournament the developers also presented a brand new 5v5 game mode in a show match with pro players.

The mode will feature a completely new map with 3 lanes and new objectives and mechanics, such as fog of war, increased movement speed on the river, scout cameras and many more. The mode will be available from February and will become a new standard for esport scene, forcing teams to reshuffle their rosters and find new players.
