Evil Geniuses Win 2018 Call of Duty World League Championship
The North American squad Evil Geniuses managed to win the main event of the Call of Duty professional scene – 2018 Call of Duty World League Championship. In the grand finals of the $1,500,000 event EG defeated another team from USA Team Kaliber, becoming world championships in the title and receiving whooping $600,000 in prize money.
The event started with a group stage, which took place at the MLG Arena in Columbus, Ohio on August 15-16. It featured eight groups with four teams in each of them with round-robin format and best-of-five matches, with only half of the teams advancing to the next stage. The playoffs stage was held on August 17-19 at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. Eighteen teams competed in a double-elimination bracket with best-of-five matches.
Evil Geniuses started the competition by defeating Supremacy in Group H, but later they lost Elevate NA. In order to advance to the next stage, EG managed to outplay the winners of the previous world championship OpTic Gaming, knocking them out of the tournament. In the playoffs EG defeated Team Vitality (3:0), Lightning Pandas NA (3:0), Team Envy (3:2), and Team Kaliber (3:1). The final series concluded with the 3:2 score in favour of Evil Geniuses, granting the team $600,000 in prize money.

This competitive season was played on Call of Duty: WWII, while the next one will be already played on the newest version of the game – Black Ops 4.
