ELEAGUE CS:GO Invitational 2019 Preview

Soon begins ELEAGUE CS:GO Invitational 2019, a LAN-event that will feature four teams, including FaZe Clan, BIG, Cloud9 and compLexity Gaming, competing for a $150,000 prize pool.

The tournament will be held on January 25-27 at ELEAGUE Arena in Atlanta, United States. The participating teams will compete in a double-elimination playoffs bracket, where all matches will be best-of-three. In the opening matches FaZe Clan will face Cloud9, while BIG will play with compLexity Gaming.

FaZe Clan vs Cloud9, 7:00 PM (London Time)

GG.Bet odds: FaZe 1.51 vs Cloud9 2.43

Considering the last year’s results, FaZe Clan is the clear favourite of the match – in the second half of 2018 the European team emerged victorious at IEM Masters XIII – Sydney, ESL One: Belo Horizonte 2018 and EPICENTER 2018, while Cloud9’s last tournament victory was achieved in January 2018 at ELEAGUE Major: Boston 2018, where they defeated FaZe with the 2-1 score. However, since then the North American team significantly changed their roster, and the past year they had been struggling to reach top positions on LAN-tournaments. It should be noted however that recently these two teams played twice against each other – at BLAST Pro Series Copenhagen 2018 in November and at BLAST Pro Series Lisbon 2018 in December – and both times Cloud9 managed to get the upper hand. This month both teams participated in iBUYPOWER Masters IV and shared the 5-6th place. So based on the most recent results we can assume that the teams are in an equal form, so the series can go in either direction.

BIG vs compLexity Gaming, 10:00 PM (UK Time)

GG.Bet odds: BIG 1.23 vs compLexity 2.43

Comparing these two teams, BIG have much more achievements under their belt – they showed a good fight at FACEIT Major: London 2018, where they placed 5-8th, as well as finished 2nd at ESL One: Cologne 2018, while recently the team placed 3rd at both cs_summit3 and SuperNova Malta 2018. As for compLexity, after changing two players in December they participated in iBUYPOWER Masters IV, where they finished last. However if we look at the recent head-to-heads between the teams, compLexity managed to win two series against BIG in September during FACEIT Major 2018 qualifiers and main stage, while BIG outplayed compLexity only once at StarSeries i-League Season 6.

Speaking about the overall chances of the teams to win the event, and taking into consideration our outrights, FaZe Clan are the clear favourites of the tournament, while Cloud9 and compLexity are the outsiders.
