NRG Esports Wins IEM XIII Shanghai
NRG Esports has become the winner of Intel Extreme Masters XIII – Shanghai. In the grand final of the $250,000 CS:GO championship the North American team managed to defeated the crowd-favorites TyLoo with the score of 2-0.
The event was held on August 1-6 at Shanghai New International Expo Center, its line-up consisted of eight teams. First, they competed in two GSL groups, and then top two teams from each group advanced to a single-elimination playoffs bracket with best-of-three series. Both future finalists placed first in their groups – NRG Esports advanced from Group A by defeating 5Power Gaming (16:10) and HellRaisers (2-1), while TyLoo outplayed Grayhound Gaming (16:10) and B.O.O.T-dreamScape (2-0) in Group B. Later in the semifinals NRG knocked out Gambit from the tournament (2-0), and TyLoo were stronger than Virtus.pro (2-1). In the grand finals NRG Esports looked by head and shoulders above TyLoo – the Americans defeated their opponents 16:9 at Overpass and 16:2 at Mirage. Earlier this year NRG Esports also won iBUYPOWER Invitational – Spring 2019 and placed second at StarSeries i-League Season 5.
